Eden...

Wow what a busy past few weeks for this little girl!!!

Eden edit 1

Eden turned 7 years old on May 3rd. She had a wonderful day and a very fun party with family and friends! She LOVES the attention her birthday brings and starts planning for the next year before the current year has even hit! She gets so giggly and excited!

I have not had the chance to take her out for her birthday photo shoot yet. I will hopefully be able to tackle that very soon!

Eden has been doing WONDERFUL in school. She is reading at a 3rd grade level and loves school! She was awarded with the "Principal's Pride Award" today for some of her work she has done this year. Her work is on display in the school hallway by the Principles office. (Now had she told her mom and dad about this award ceremony- we would have been there- but I had to find out about this after the fact and feel like crap for not being there today... we seem to have some communication issues with our children!) But none the less, we are so pleased with Eden and happy for her achievements! I love that she loves school and does so amazingly well at it!

Eden has also been very busy with dance. We had our final dance recital of the season and she did awesome! Her and Lily are so fun to watch on that stage! They love being in the spotlight. Eden has also been very busy the past couple of days with Dance Company tryouts... She is finally old enough to be one of the "big girls" at dance and has been so excited to try out! Although I wonder if she really knows what it means to tryout. On Monday Eden went to the studio for 2 hours. For the first hour the girls were taught a dance and danced their little hearts out. Eden surprised me with how well she did. In the second hour they did their Technique in front of three studio judges, Eden again amazed me with doing very well and being so smiley and confident! Yesterday she went back for another couple hours... we practiced the dance with all the girls and then they presented their dance to the judges... 3/4 girls at a time. Eden was so excited and giddy to be able to do this. She did very well and now we just get to wait to see what the outcome is. I think we will find out tomorrow or Friday if she will be dancing with Company and doing competitions this next season. I know this will require a lot of time and money- but we do what we can to accommodate our kids wishes and dreams. :)

This little girl takes after her mom in the artistic side of life. Eden loves art. Loves to draw, paint, glue, cut... you name it. She also LOVES to read and write. Eden makes cards and books for everything! She loves writing stories and making illustrations to go with her stories! She recieved a bunch of gifts for her birthday to help her expand her horizons and get more creative! Nana and Papa bought her a special book to write her stories in and put illustrations with each story... her little stories and pictures are SO CUTE! Her uncle Guy and aunt Jen gave her a Disney Princess Art kit- that she loves! Then our sweet friends Shelie and Dale gave her some super cool colored pencils called Smencils... These penciles smell SO YUMMY and Eden has loved them to death! I think 2 of the pencils have already met their last day- she uses them for everything!!! Her aunt Amy and Keith and cousins also gave her a huge package of white paper--- who ever would have though a little girl would get excited over a ream of paper--- this little girl did!!!

We love our sweet Eden! She is an amazing little girl and will do great things and go places in this big world! I love how happy and excited she is about life! She is an example to me. I just love my little girl!

Precious Birds...

Bird nest

We have the special opportunity to see this everyday lately... They are so beautiful! So precious! What a little miracle this is... I am amazed at how sweet nature works!!!

Bird nest 1

This Mommy bird started making her nest about 4 weeks ago. We were not able to ever see the eggs but seeing these baby birds is so much fun for us!!!

Bird nest mommy feeding bird

The nest is in the tree just outside the boys' bedroom window. The nest is about 4 feet from the window. We have some chairs set up in their room for random viewing. :) Whenever the Mommy bird leaves the nest we sit and we wait for her to come back with food and the babies pop up to be seen!

Birds in nest3

Today the babies were popping up and flopping around while Mommy was away... Yesterday they could not be seen until feeding time.

Bird nest mommy with birds5

After feeding her sweet babies she cleans out the nest, lets them move around for a little bit and then nestles around on them for nap time again. It is so amazing!

Bird nest mommy with birds2

It is such a sweet thing. A mother's sacrifice for her babies. She sits and cares for them, keeping them warm for hours on end... then fly's away only to get food and bring it back for feeding time. This sweet Mommy bird has dedicated her life to these sweet babies, doing nothing else other than caring for them until it is time for them to fly away. Then I'm sure she will do it again next year.

It will be a lot of fun watching them grow and leave the nest! I hope to catch the process with the camera!

Have a wonderful day!

Samuel and Joshua...

So remember way back over a month ago when I said I was going to take some pictures of Samuel and Joshua on their 9th birthday and do a post... well, I did take the pictures... just never did the post... I guess better late than never!

Joshua with border   Samuel with border

These boys are hilarious! They are not that easy to take pictures of anymore. I get a lot of rolling eyes and the drawn out "Mommmmm"... they hate me bugging them! BUT OH WELL!

I love the bond between these two. They make each other so happy!

Spring!

Wow, it has been too long since my last post. Sorry. This past month has been pretty busy and stressful.

Where to begin...

A few weeks ago my Grandma had a heart attack and was in the hospital for 4 days. Hospitals are SO much fun to hang out at for 4 days (sarcasm entered here). She is back home now and doing much better. They had to put 3 stints in two of her main arteries. I am so happy she is on the road to recovery. That was a hard week!

There have been a couple other things "stress worthy" over the past couple of weeks, but I will save noting them for another day- another time. I'm trying to take it all in and not be so emotional about things... but I'm an emotional freak and seem to get upset no matter how hard I try not to.

The kids are off track now for a few weeks. They are each taking turns spending some nights with their Nana and Papa. They love going over to Nana and Papa's house. Nana always spends time baking with them and doing fun things with them and Papa always hits the RedBox and rents a ton of movies to stay up all night watching with them. They all have a great time, and I enjoy having one less kid for a few days. :)

I need to get my camera out and play! My blog obviously needs some updating and I would love to share some new pictures! So, stay tuned and hopefully later this week I will have some new pictures of something on here. :)

I hope all is well with you all. Sorry for the boring blog lately. :) I will brighten it up hopefully very soon!

Salsa Lime Chicken...

I got creative in the kitchen tonight and made a VERY yummy dinner! Thought I would share... it even looked pretty... I will have to take pictures next time!!!

Chicken Breasts
3 Limes
Garlic Sea Salt
Lawry's Salt
Fresh Ground Pepper
Olive Oil
Sweet Onion

Avacado
Fresh Salsa

Flour Tortillas
Medium Cheddar Cheese

Tenderize the chicken breasts with a meat hammer until the chicken is quite thin. Place in a dish and add the juice of 3 limes to marinate.

Slice onion and saute with olive oil and Lawry's salt.

After the chicken has marinated for about 15 minutes or longer... place in frying pan with about a teaspoon of olive oil. Salt with fresh ground garlic sea salt, fresh ground pepper and Lawry's salt.

Slice avocado and squeeze some fresh lime juice on the avocado slices. Then salt and pepper.

Serve chicken topped with onions, a slice or two of avocado and spoon of fresh salsa. (The presentation is fun!)

Now... my original idea was to make chicken quesadillas... I had a craving. :) So I continued my plate with making a quesadilla... using the tortillas, cheddar and slicing my chicken... I placed it in my handy dandy quesadilla maker.

The quesadilla also turned out looking beautiful! Topped with the sauted onions, fresh avacado arranged in a flower pattern and then topped with a spoonful of fresh salsa.

YUM!

My Sweet Little Boys are 9 Years Old Today!

OK so maybe they are not so little anymore. But in 5 more years... 9 will have been little! So, I am going to enjoy them being "little" for a few more years!

100_0023

Samuel and Joshua are so much fun lately! Definitely starting to act more like "big boys" and do "big boy" things. They have developed great personalities and like to try and be a part of "big people" conversations. It is a lot of fun having twins as our oldest kids! They are great boys and a lot of fun to be around!

Family November 2008 15

Samuel is a great biggest brother. A little more serious than the other kids in this household. Definitely the protector and care taker of his younger siblings. Samuel is very tender hearted and loves to be with his family. While he enjoys going out and playing with his brother and friends, he is always the first to come back home because he "gets a little homesick" or "just wants to be home". I love that about Samuel! I love that he wants to be home! Samuel loves spending time with his Dad and finding things to do to be around him. He is a lot like his Dad!SJ13

Joshua is also a great "big brother", but knows he is not the oldest and uses it to his advantage as often as he can. Joshua is a little comedian and wise guy! He is so much like his twin Grandpa it is scary. Amazing how similar the two are!!! Especially the facial expressions. It is so cute. Joshua is a very social boy and makes friends very easily. Joshua is a busy body, always wanting to "go play" and wanting to "go" do something. Amazing how the two boys are so different that way. Joshua is so cute and funny! Always finds something to make us laugh!

Family November 2008 14

Seems that the "little kid" toys are of no interest anymore. They are enjoying sports (soccer, the idea of hockey, baseball), skateboarding, snowboarding, and running around outside playing "fighting", "war" and "sword" games. I like that they still like to pretend! I'm sure the days of pretend play will come to an end in the next couple of years. The toys they enjoy lately are Lego's and Bionicles, Tech Deck, Bakugan and World of Warcraft cards. They like to spend any extra time they have on the computer, playing World of Warcraft with their Dad, any variety of on-line games and watching silly stuff and music videos on YouTube. Who would have ever thought that YouTube would be a source of 9 year old entertainment?! These boys are so enticed by anything electronic! They LOVE playing games on their Nintendo DS systems and playing with their iPods and computer! They know how to hook up and take down the game system's from the televisions (PS3, Wii, XBOX). They get very excited when they accomplish things like that!

Samuel and Joshua Saturation Edit

I can not believe my boys will be going into the 4th grade this fall. That is only TWO years away from Junior High. Scary, but fun I guess. A little piece of me loves that they are getting older and that we are able to do more together and enjoy each others company more and more. We are excited that the boys have enjoyed snowboarding with us these past couple of winters and it is fun that the boys and Peter love to go skateboarding together. We hope to start Mtn. Biking with them this spring and summer and also teach them how to wake-board and water ski! It is hard to take that they are getting SO big SO quick, but at the same time- it really is nice to finally be able to get out and about again do the things we love WITH them and teaching them how to do "big kid" things.

Samuel and Joshua's Baptism

We had a family/friend party with my side of the family and some of our close friends this past Friday. The boys love having people over to visit. We had about 35 people over for dinner, cake and ice cream. Samuel requested my homemade spaghetti (his favorite). Joshua also loves spaghetti but got to choose his favorite meal to eat at Grandma Bookmans house last night. We went and spent time celebrating and having fun with Peter's family yesterday. Sherry made Joshua's favorite- Salmon- for dinner, and we had a fun birthday celebration there as well! The boys are VERY LOVED!

Today we are going birthday shopping at Toys'R'Us then going out to dinner as a family. Since we had cake twice already this weekend, the boys requested I make them some Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars. They will be ready and waiting for them as they walk in the door from school.

Peter and I bought the boys a nice track and slot cars for their gift this year. I hope they enjoy it! I know my dad, brothers and I enjoyed playing with them a lot when we were about the boys' age.

I need to go through my archived photos and find some "little boy" pictures of them... all that I have on my computer right now is the past year or so and a few random pictures from the past few years. I got a little "archive" happy last month when I thought my computer was going to die for good!

Wow... long post... I guess I made up for the LACK of posts these past couple weeks. We have been fighting sickness and trying to get some pre-spring cleaning and organizing done around here. I am so excited for spring!

Happy Birthday Samuel and Joshua!!!

February 16, 2009

Post coming soon... hopefully tomorrow...

I really wanted to do a post on Valentine's Day... but I was not feeling well. I got a nasty, swollen, sore throat and fever on Saturday and spent every second of "awake" time with the family. We had a nice day and evening together!

February 14th is the day that my sweet husband proposed 12 years ago! I can not believe we have been "together" almost 13 years. Time flies!

I'm feeling a little better today... just still not my best! Hopefully back in the swing of things tomorrow! I want ENERGY and I want to go to the gym! I am going tomorrow if it kills me!

Hope you all had a great President's Day... I know a lot of the world got to enjoy a 3 day weekend... hopefully you did something fun! I took the kids out to lunch today and saw the movie "Bolt". It was a very cute movie!

Be back soon...
